Banking & Finance Solicitor

Location Cardiff
Discipline: Lawyer
Salary: £Competitive
Job ref: 005202

We are looking for a Newly Qualified Solicitor, or a Solicitor looking to change practice area, to join our Banking and Finance team in Cardiff.  The role offers an excellent opportunity to work within a close-knit team in Cardiff along with other members of the Banking and Finance team located in our other offices. You will be given access to a portfolio of varied and high-quality finance work with opportunities to both lead and support on transactions. The successful candidate will have the freedom to manage their own matters, with plenty of client exposure, and will be encouraged to take on responsibility, whilst being supported by the team. The team actively encourage and provide the opportunity for all members of the team to develop a strong network of client relationships.

Our Banking and Finance team comprises specialist lawyers able to advise on transactions from the simplest to the most complex, including bespoke transactions. We are able to offer a broad scope of work, advising on mid-market secured lending transactions, including acquisition and leveraged debt, real estate finance and asset financing (including invoice financing and general secured and structured lending), often with an international element. We provide financial services regulation advice. We act for a wide variety of lenders including clearing banks, investment and merchant banks, mezzanine and non-institutional funders, as well as borrowers including private and public companies, colleges and universities and housing associations. The team also advises corporate borrowers on all aspects of their financing and refinancing needs (including in distressed circumstances). We operate as a cross-office Banking and Finance team, and so as well as working on Wales based transactions, you will also gain experience working on transactions originating elsewhere in the UK, including London, and working with members of team based in our other offices. As a result, you will be provided with exposure to a broad range of work and clients and the opportunity to learn from a range of lawyers across the team. The team also regularly works with our Corporate, Real Estate, Business Restructuring and Insolvency and Construction teams on a cross-team and cross-office basis, as well as foreign counsel on international transactions.

The right candidate will have access to excellent training, both within the team and also as part of our structured in-house programmes for lawyers. The position is Cardiff based, with occasional travel to our London, Reading and Southampton offices, and offers exciting opportunities for an ambitious and career minded individual to develop their skills and to build their career within a leading law firm.
