We are looking for a Solicitor or Associate solicitor with at least 1-year PQE to work as part of the cross-office Business Support and Insolvency Team. We are open to applications from individuals who may have taken the decision to specialise in insolvency after gaining experience in a related commercial practice area.
Based from our Southampton office, the successful candidate will work closely with the lead Partners in the region but would also be part of the cross-office team and supporting colleagues based from our London, Cardiff and Reading offices. The individual may already be working in an insolvency team, with personal and/or corporate insolvency experience, including transactional, advisory and contentious insolvency. The team works for a wide range of insolvency practitioners, banks, lenders, investors, directors, companies and individuals and the successful candidate will be given immediate responsibilities and the opportunity to work closely with all clients. Candidates without any prior dedicated insolvency experience, should demonstrate solid experience working in a corporate transactional or commercial litigation team (ideally with some experience of working on insolvency matters) and with a willingness to learn and commit to developing their career as a fully rounded insolvency lawyer handling both non-contentious and contentious insolvency work.
An excellent foundation knowledge of core legal principles is essential. For candidates who have already been working on insolvency or corporate matters, they should ideally have a sound understanding of insolvency and company law. Candidates will be expected to apply their knowledge to handle administration appointments, security reviews, sales of businesses and assets out of insolvency, matters arising in bankruptcy and liquidation estates and officeholder claims arising from antecedent transactions. Experience of appointing and working with LPA Receivers may be advantageous but is not essential.
The successful candidate will be expected to have excellent communication skills as well an enthusiasm and willingness to get involved in business development and networking in the South and Thames Valley region.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a hard-working, lively, ambitious solicitor who is flexible, able to think on their feet and enjoys networking and contributing to the growth of a successful and busy insolvency practice. We support hybrid working, typically with 2-3 days flexible office attendance, according to business need.
